This challenge is all about creativity — we want YOU to make a homemade ornament inspired by a book, character, or reading in general to decorate our Library Christmas Tree!
Your ornament can be made from any material — just no food, please — and it must be no more than five inches tall. You can only enter one ornament per person, and all entries are due by December 5th.
Once the ornaments are up, everyone will get to vote, and the five ornaments with the most votes will each win a super cozy blanket!
So get crafty, get creative, and show off your reading spirit! Let’s make our library tree sparkle with bookish cheer!

"Hi! My name is Melissa! I was born and raised in Meade County and am a proud MCHS graduate. My husband and I have been married for 27 years and have two beautiful daughters, Alicia and Rory, as well as a handsome grandson, Hunter. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, and doing crafts. I’m excited to begin this next adventure and become part of the SPMS family! I look forward to getting to know the staff, students, and parents!"

"I am truly honored to join the SPMS teaching staff and to have the opportunity to work with the incredible middle school students in our community. It is a privilege to be entrusted with their growth and learning during such an important stage of life.
My husband and I have been proud to call Meade County home since 2013, where we are raising our four awesome children. What we love most about living here is the warmth, kindness, and strong sense of community that make Meade County so special."

"Hello, my name is Christy Wiles, and I am absolutely thrilled to introduce myself as the new Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the Meade County School District!
I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart, Chris, for 27 wonderful years, and we have four amazing kids—Dalton and Callie, both proud Meade County graduates, and our twins, Mason and Kk, who are currently sophomores. We live in Flaherty with our very spoiled goldendoodle, Bella 🐾.
This is my 15th year in the school system, where I’ve spent most of my time as a one-on-one assistant to a truly special young lady who inspired me to pursue this new role. I recently earned my Bachelor's degree from the University of the Cumberlands, and I’ve just begun working on my Master’s in TVI at the University of Kentucky.
I am so excited to support and advocate for our students with visual impairments and to be part of a district I care so deeply about. When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me cheering on my kids at their sports events, spending time with family and friends, or dreaming of my next trip to the beach—my happy place! 🌴☀️
I can’t wait to make a difference here in Meade County!"

Please encourage your child to participate! SPMS is a school of readers, and all participants will earn prizes for filling out their Bingo Cards!
Please note that each square must be initialed by an adult (at home or at school). Have a wonderful, safe Fall Break and happy reading!
